Do spikes help and how much time do they take of and wat are the best exercises to take time of the 100m's ?

hi im 13 i want to no if it is worth buying spikes and wat is the best exercises to do to build up ur time ?

  1. if your going to buy spikes you need to learn how to sprint on your toes...They are great shoes to use and yes they can help you improve.....for a faster time in the 100m you should constantly do 10 to 40m dashes using the block start. it will get your body used to pushing out faster....good luck and buy those spikes


  2. Yes you need to wear spikes for pretty much any race under 400m...some people use them for the 800m, usually softer spikes though.  

    There are tons of things you can do to increase 100m time.  Doing things that involve explosive excercises will help...anything from weightlifting to stadium sprints to short interval repeats on the track.  Also do some resistance training...an example would be pulling someone behind you while you are sprinting.

    For 100m though, the most important thing that is going to help you better your time is getting out of the blocks, that can make or break your race.  Keep your head down and shoot out of them like a cannon!!

Well, i am a track runner myself and i usually wear spikes for my 800 meter race but when i run the 100 meter hurdles i don't but they do help, the only reason i don't wear them inthe hurdles is because i don't want the spikes to hit the hurdles but the spikes give you mre traction and you can run faster.  I good way to get time off of a race is to have a healthy diet before running.  Eat bananas to reduce a chance of getting cramps, carbohydrates are good to eat and don't eat anything an hour before running....Don't drink anything 30 minutes before running.
