  1. yes, definetly worth the investment

in track they are good, they are also good for longer trail runs (like cross country) so there are a lot of varieties! try spikes that have 6 or seven spike holes, with 1/8 inch spikes, plastic where the spikes go and good soft padding under your heel

certain lengths of the spikes aren't allowed in certain competitions check with you coach or someone who would know

also, don't go to major sports stores, first they probably won't have them this time of year, and second, they aren't that good at fitting or suggesting shoes

go to a good local running/walking store

  2. yes unless you already have perfect form

  3. Yes they definatly do . Its hard to imagine before you actually use them but they make a huge difference. Also sprint shoes don't have to have spikes . I have 2 pairs ; one pair has spikes (which i use on track for competitions) the the other pair has a very flexible rubber sole (which i use for training). They are extremely light and really do make a difference to your time. If you can , try and get a pair by new balance in my experiance they have the best sprint shoes. Good luck ! :]

  4. yeah they can really help!

the way they are shaped makes you keep up on your toes... by running on your toes you run faster!

  5. Yes they really help you out because it gives you better traction when you run. My advice is don't use the pyramid spikes that come with the shoes like this for example http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productde...

because they wear out really easily. You should use needle spikes because they help you out better and are more efficient.
