Do squirrels play dead?

Question

I had one caught that jump down a hole about 2 1/2 feet down but couldn't get out so when I went over to try and help it, it slumped over like it was dead. So I figured it was and left it there. I came back later and I saw the darn thing running accross my back yard!!!!

well idk about that but i was on campus at my sisters school and they were really friendly and interected with the pedestians walking by it was sooo cute. my mom was at my old house one day and she say one by the window and it wanted to come in and kept tapping on the window she got mad and threw a book at the window and it dissapeard lmao

It probably was exausted from trying to get out. Maybe it rested and then struggled to free it self and made it . No they don't play dead. And they really don't carry rabies that lady is wrong.

it was probably just shocked or something. But you can actually train squirells to i think lol.

proba just shock. i suppose all animals can freeze up tho

I don't think they can, but they, like most small animals, can suffer from real shock and jumps/knocks can cause this. They can also pass out, of course.

yes and stay away, they can tho rarely carry rabies, the vaccines are short supply I work in a hospital.  Leave it.
