Hi. I'm 14 and was wondering whether public schools get free gas and electric. In my school, during term time, there is a network of 100 computers. There are big signs telling us to not turn off the computers - these computers stay on for weeks if not months at a time. Further, the lights stay on 24/7 and I have not seen them once turned off.

I would have thought they would be off during the holidays, but when I passed yesterday, I looked in and saw all the lights and computers on?

As for gas, we do alot of science experiments with Bunsen burners. My 'slightly' bizarre chemistry teacher has never turned off a certain Bunsen Burner in 3 months and i assume it is still on.

If it were not free (the gas and electric), what would the bill be?

Surely it must be free.

  1. No, the council will get an electricity bill for the school and have to pay it.

Problem is, your teachers don't have to pay the bill and so all they care about is what's convenient for them.

  2. Nothing is free your parents tax money foots the bill...Welcome to the real world...
