  1. Not really. If you look for long enough you might see some patterns but it might not work out the same way as it has been doing in the past. Technical analysts earn their bread by trying to find patterns and studying human sentiment and volume and what not. But not everyone agrees it works.

  2. The stock technicians certainly maintain that they do.   They buy and sell based on those patterns. I believe there are they maintain that there are patterns over nearly every period of time.  There are at least 50 different books currently on the market that discuss how to read those patterns.

  3. Muncie is correct.  But everytime I have read a stock price "prediction" based on the "pattern" by these "technicians,"  they say something that boils down to:

    ...so if earnings and profits continue to rise, as they have in the past, the pattern shows the stock price should also rise, but if their product should fail, (or the economy goes bad, or company Y comes out with a better product, or any of thousands of different things go wrong,) and earnings fall, then the price will fall...{DUH!! In other words what they are saying is ....Haven't a clue.    Didn't Peter Lynch, the world's most successful investor, write a book  called a "Random Walk down Wall St.?  Wasn't that about the market being a short term c**p shoot?}

  4. No.  If patterns were that predictable, everyone would be a millionaire investor.
