  1. I used them when I quit and there was no way I could have pulled it off without them.

However, that being said you have to want to do it. If you're only 1/2 in it, you won't succeed. As well, all stop smoking aides only lessen the severity of cravings... you will still have cravings, triggers, etc... and a whole lot of body changes as your body is trying to repair itself.

  2. Yes if you smoke while wearing the patch

  3. Before there were patches and gum and pills... People used to smoke cold turkey.

  4. I personally don't trust any quit smoking method that deals only with physical nicotine addiction. I tried several times to quit using patches, gums, herbs etc but none of these worked.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. As soon as I dealt with my psychological reasons for smoking I quit, first time and more importantly for good.

  5. No don't waste your time or your money patches gums pills is just a gimmick. just have to persuade yourself into being healthy again force yourself to give it up. ive been smoking for 20 some odd years and just 2 months ago i quit cold turkey no patches no gums none of that **** and yes its hard but as time goes by the craving will haunt you less.

  6. They don't increase the success rate -- that's statistics -- unless in conjunction with a stop smoking program. However, they can for some people ease the discomfort of the progress. In my personal experience, they haven't allowed sufficient control of the nicotine dose -- you're sometimes getting too much and sometimes too little. Commit lozenges are more effective than either the gum or the patches. Combinations are possible if necessary and under medical supervision. With a bit of dilligence, anyone can switch to the lozenges, because they provide the same nicotine you're used to but with a different dose profile. I used them successfullly for several years before I cut out the nicotine, and switching from smoking to the lozenges was the easy part!
