  1. The flea sprays for around the home work but the topical flea treatments that are sold in petstores don't work.

  2. Living in an apt is tough because your animals will likely get fleas (mine did when we were renting).  The store bought stuff does work, but not as long and it also can be harmful to your pet.  The store bought stuff is poison for the parasites that actually enters your dog/cats bloodstream.  The stuff that you buy at the vet's office is more expensive, but you'll have to apply it a lot less and it's safer for your pets.  Get one treatment at your vets office and then start ordering from www.dog.com They have all of the leading brands, but stick to Frontline Plus and Revolution.  Don't forget heartworm treatment for your pets!!

  3. i bought k9 advantix (but can't be used on cats!!!) from 1800petmeds.com

free shipping.  Can't really compare prices cause i didn't do a lot of shoppping around.

  4. Your vet is right. Store bought treatments are not as strong. While they may kill some of the fleas, they don't kill them all. Your vet should have some Advantage or Frontline. ( I use Advantage.)Some vets sell them in single doses. One dose lasts one month. It's good that you're treating your house.

I used to work at an animal hospital. While sometimes vets do charge people for things they don't need, your vet is right on this one.

  5. Frontline, Advantix, and Advantage, are all good ones.

  6. Nothing really works except frontline

  7. Being pregnant, you should limit your exposure to all flea treatments not just the foggers.  Use a flea shampoo to kill fleas and eggs already on your pet and the spot treatment and a collar to control further outbreaks.  You are also on the right track by spraying all the areas that might be breeding grounds for the fleas.  Bedding and furniture can house more fleas than your pet can.

  8. they do work, not as long as the vets stuff though. They eventually wash off frontline and the others don't. But they do work. If they already have fleas even just a few you need to get a flea powder and cover your carpet in it.Fleas stay in carpets, make sure you don't have any in the house before you treat your pets cuz they will just jump off your animals and live in the carpet.

  9. Your vet is right!  The ones you can buy in the grocery store like Hartz, Bio spot, Sargent's ect don't work and have been linked to causing all kinds of medical problems to your pets, including death!

You can however go to any good pet store or PetCo, PetsMart, Agway even tractor supply and get some Frontline for both your animals.
