  1. Students do not get anymore cheap fares than anyone else, however you can purchase a Young Persons Railcard which will give you some discount on the fares. Or enquire at the local Goverment Authority sometimes they have a student scheme, but these are more aimed at those below the age of 17 or maybe the University you are going to has a scheme set up.

The only other way to ensure you get the best value tickets is book early.  Use the local station to enquire about fares and costs on the new Advance Ticket systems, only use the internet if you have to to book (i.e. Trainline, etc) as sometimes the tickets do not arrive or you need to change your mind so extra hassle of sending them back etc, also no surcharge or p+p costs, plus you talk to a clerk straight in front of you who can help and advise on the journey.

  2. Hey Chris, I'm from Bristol too!

Anyway with a rail card you can get to Warwick for £8.90 single and without it's £13.50 single.

Might be worth getting a Student Railcard if your going to be making the journey regularly.

  3. get a student railcard 1/3of all rail fares.

  4. You would need to get either a young persons rail card.  You need to be under 25, take your passport/driving licence and its only 20 pounds.  Fom there on in, it's a 3rd off all train fares.  I'm sure they do a student rail card as well, but I don't know about that.

I do know you CANNOT flash your student card at them and get a discount, unfortunately.  You need to apply for the relevant rail card.

  5. You need to get a Young Person's Railcard (this is what was originally called the Student Railcard, but is now available to anybody under 26, and to students of any age). It costs £24 a year, and gives you 1/3rd off most fares (there are minimum fares applicable at some times of day/day of week).
