Do sunglasses have any side effects?

my mom and some other people told me that sun =glasses can ruinyour sight since the shades release something into your eyes or something of the sort... plz id like to know if they really are dangerous or not... THANX!!!

    nobady got sick form sunglasses so is not dangerous


  2. The only side effects are good ones.

    The lens of the eye can develop  cataracts with constant exposure to UV rays....that's what sunglasses are meant to block.

  3. No, it's not true.  Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun's UVA and UVB rays.  These are the same rays that cause sunburn, and prolonged exposure can be harmful to your eyes, so they're actually healthy to wear.  The only bad side effect is the tan lines!

Actually, sunglasses protect your eyes by blocking them from harmful UV rays.  Make sure they block UV rays, most have a label stating such.  There is probably constant out gassing from the plastics, but this is likely on an unmeasurable scale.  If sunglasses were dangerous, would the President, Pope, or Queen of England wear them?  Surely their doctors would not allow it.
