  1. they shouldn't hurt your hair.

a couple ways to prevent damage:

--  shower before you swim getting your hair saturated with clean chemical free water before you get in helps it to not soak up the chlorine that is so damaging.

-- after you swim wash your hair. using a special swim shampoo and conditioner will help. try using a leave-in conditioner as a way to lock in extra moisture. a spray in formula like john frieda's daily nourishment leave in fortifying spray. i use that one and it gives enough condition without weighing hair down.

-- deep condition weekly with a hair conditioning mask.

-- use a comb when your hair is wet rather than a brush. that will help prevent breakage.

-- try to resist from doing other things that may damage your hair like dying it, or styling it with heat often.

    hope this helps.

  2. no they dont hurt ur hair at all... it keeps it from the chemicals in the pool... so it is a good thing..

  3. No, it doesn't! It's meant to protect your hair from the chlorine. My girl cousin says that her hair does not "break." She suggests a cap made of silicon. It pulls less than latex.  Adding BABY POWER in the cap are helpful too.

  4. no,unless you put it on extremely tight

  5. Swim caps do not damage your hair. The chlorine in the pool damages your hair. Shampoo your hair as usual, but to really keep you hair healthy, condition, condition, condition. You can even put conditioner in your hair before you swim so it repels some of the water.

  6. well they might have you wear caps to protect your hair. but chlorine in pools can turn your hair green. people with blond hair get green hair worste then people with brown hair because blond is a lighter color and yea... but if you Wash your hair like right after you get out of the pool or when you are done swimming it can help prevent your hair from turning green.

  7. nah,i've been swimming for a few years.actully,if you're blonde, like in your picture,it's better, considering blonde hair easily turns colors and is wrecked by chlorine.swim caps can protect your hair actully, always wash it afterwards, though. and swim caps can collect dirt and other gross things,so turn it out when your'e done and wash it out.

  8. The latex caps can break your hair a little, so go for the silicon type.  But like everybody else said, the chlorine is what kills.  Here's my advice from 6 years of lifeguarding and a lifetime of swimming:

-Always wet your hair in the shower before getting in the pool. That way the chlorine water isn't rushing to get into your dry hair.

    - Add an intense conditioner before you put on your cap. VO5 has a really great oil conditioner that comes in a tube. This will also help protect your hair from the chlorine.

    - Put on your cap before you get in. I always wet my cap a bit before putting it on. Baby powder helps too (added to a dry cap) if you are using the latex kind.

    - ALWAYS wash your hair with shampoo and condition after each swim.  If you're in the pool a lot, it's tempting to just rinse, but this doesn't remove chlorine.  You can also get special shampoo and conditioner designed for swimmers.

Do these things now before the chlorine does any damage. It's almost impossible to fix damaged hair, but it's easy to prevent it. Good luck!
