Do tampons hurt???

i'm 14 and i've been on my peroid for about 3 years i use pads cause my mom never gave me a tampon and now i hear girls talk about tampons all the time do they hurt???? do they work better then pads???? please don't laugh o and if i wanted to how should i ask my mom to get some???? and will my mom be mad if i asked???

i prefer them actushualy...they are great for sports and no they dont hurt at all it just feels a little weird to put in but after that its fine

no, they don't hurt...you'll get used to them.

just talk to your mom about it, she shouldn't get mad, just let her know that you want to use them, and give her reasons why (don't say all of my friends are using them).

i think they work better than pads, when i first got my period, i used pads too, but now i only used tampons.

no they dont hurt if used properly they are much more cleaner and will totally make a difference in your life. TRY THEM!

No WAY they do NOT hurt. They are 100 times better than pads once you get the hang of them. Just tell your mom that pads are really uncomfortable and you would like to try tampons. If your too shy to do that, leave her a note.  She shouldn't be mad.

sometimes it does. other it doesnt.

its never an extreme pain.

but sometimes it can tear your hymen a little. which causes it to hurt.

also if its not put in all the way/properly it will hurt when you sit.

nope it took me a while to use them 2.then this year i learned how my friend showed me how to use them and i was in the bathtub and there was a shower curtain between us and she went through everything with me.:)

you don't even know you have one on if you put them in the right way.

just try it.

You cant fill a tampon at all if it is inserted properly.  I found you just have to practice.  The most important thing is to relax because tense muscles can be uncomfortable.  I find them not messy like pads.  Just be sure to not use a higher absorbency then needed because that can cause toxic shock syndrome.  However TSS is very rare.

You shouldnt feel tampons when they are insideof you so no pain at all, they work the same as pads absorbancy wise. Some women find them more comfortable than pads. Just tell your mom that you are sick of feeling funny wearing a pad, every women knows how uncomfortable they are! Your mom will understand, she was your age once and has a period also.

I'm 14 too and to tell you the truth I like pads better than tampons. At first it feels unconfortable but I guess you're supposed to get used to it. I EXTREMELY doubt that your mom will get mad if you were to ask. Just go up to her and ask when you are alone.

not at all if they are inserted properly. it takes some time and practice. I recommend plastic applicators.Just ask your mom about it, talk to her about she might not want you using them at your age it depends. Playtex has some great regular absorbency and light absorbency ones with slender applicators for easy insertion and Tampax pearl has light absorbency ones too. I'm talking about the smaller ones because the lighter the absorbency they easier it is to insert the tampon. Try beinggirl.com they have good tips and advice on this kind of thing. The box of tampons usually comes with detailed instructins and diagrams and tips.
