  1. Tarantulas make silk, but don't spin webs. They are ambush predators. If terrestrial they line their burrows with silk and if they are arboreal they build silk tunnels in trees to live in. Some use their silk to make doors for their borrows and some make trip lines to help detect prey.


  2. No, they are to heavy to stay balanced, plus, they don't need them to catch prey.
