  1. no, the students earn the grades.  I know, cheesey answer.  

    not usually, but it happens if the student blatanly decides to do absolutely nothing.


  2. They get what they earn. If they earned an F, then they get an F.

  3. teachers don't fail their students; if the students fail it's because they failed themselves.

  4. A teacher will fail a student if they don't do the work in any school. If the student actually puts forth some kind of effort then the teacher may consider not failing them but the student must ask for help and do all of the assignments. Just ask the teacher about their policies they would know what it takes to pass there class more then anyone else would.

  5. No and no.  Clearly, your first question refers to a small number of students... otherwise you'd have hundreds of kids failing instead of dozens.  In summer school, most of that is remedial instruction and rarely results in a failing grade UNLESS it is for high school credit.  For high school, you still have to meet the goals to get your credit.
