Do team gold medals count as more than one in the overall country medal count?

Question

For example the gymnastics teams that compete have 3+ players actually competing in the finals. When one of those teams wins the gold does the overall medal count for that country (take for example China) advance 3+ or only one. Site a source if possible.

no im afraid not no many how medals the team gets lets say 6 gold medals in the medal tally it only counts as 1 gold medal won by whoever

No it doesnt matter how many on the team it only counts as one gold per event. I remember from watching the olympics last time and wondered the same thing!
