When is the earliest someone can get diagnosed with a personality disorder?

  1. They can be diagnosed at any age if a doctor feels they have a personality disorder.

Yes it is possible.  It's not that simple to diagnose, though.  The behaviors have to be suspected and then tests are run.   But my friend was 17 when she was diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder.  She might have had it much earlier on in her life.  I think back to some of the times I have been with her and questioned her personality(s).  She was indeed diagnosed and then started treatment.  I have lost contact with her, but from what I heard she was able to manage the personalities.  She was showing to have 12 personalities.  Some were very violent.  Hope this answers your question.

  3. Early as they can start to speak I suppose.

    Well earlier as some disorders make it hard to speak.

  4. Yes.  Harder to diagnose a young child, but possible around 7-8.  (psychologist)
