Do tennis players like Federer, Djokovic or Nadal and others lose ranking points ???

yep, I recently read here that they deduct the entire points you got last year just before the start of the tourney and then add on how much you got this time at the end of it, so if you didn't perform like last year, you lose points, whereas if you were not winner last time and you do better than the last performance, you gain points. The last year's winner can only lose points and keep them the same.

According to the ATP ranking system (not the ATP race) you lose points if you do not get as far as you did the Previous year in the same tournament.

Therefore Roger Federer lost his points for the Australian Open as he had won the previous year.
