Do tennis racquets that are light injure your arm/wrist?

I currently have the Head Ti. Agassi Pro and my arm/wrist hurts. Is it because of its weight. What size racquet would you recommend?

  1. It might not be the racket but the strings and tension.

Tighter strings give more control but a lot more stress on the arms.

You also might want to have someone look at your swing (grip and form) that could be the problem

  2. No, heavier racquets have been proven to cause more injuries to arms and wrists from the stress that must be applied to hit decent shots.

  3. Actually, it all depends on yourself.  Some people like heavier rackets and others like lighter rackets.  If you think that your racket isn't light/heavy enough, then try someone else's before buying one yourself.

  4. If you use a tennis racquet that is too light, and you try to swing very fast, you can hurt yourself. A 11 oz.+ racquet should be good for you with a 60-65 flex rating. A heavier racquet will help you plow through shots more and it will absorb more of the shock if you swing fast. The racquet size shouldn't matter as long as it meets your needs.

If you are using kevlar or polyester strings, that can also be your problem. You can try lowering the tension if you insist on using those strings. Natural gut, multifilament, and synthetic gut strings might be the better road for you. Natural gut and multis are soft and powerful, synthetics usually vary so you should try out some.

  5. the opposite actually.  I have a prince tennis raquet 27.5 inches and the swing is 311!!!!

that is bad for the wrist.  but if you want a greater game id say get the new 03 hybrid!  Its amazing and I am actually going to play in a tornament with it!
