Question:

Do termites stay in furniture?

About 2 months ago we started getting termites swarming in our apartment. Our property owners say they're just waiting for the exterminator company to fit them in the schedule but we're moving in a couple weeks. They did fog our apartment only 1 week ago and i haven't seen them since, but i'm sure they're still around here somewhere.

Will the termites be in our wooden furniture now and follow us to the next place if our building isn't tented before we leave? If so, is there anything we can do? Thanks!

  1. If you can't see any small holes in the wood and fine sawdust on the floor, then they might not have infected your furniture. One way to protect the wood and kill the termites is to wipe on or spray turpentine or kerosene on the wood (it is only really going to work if the wood is not highly polished or painted and the chemicals can soak in). If you see holes then spray it inside the wood. Be careful to use these chemicals in an area that will not be noticed first to see how it affects the wood.
