  1. Tetras are a community fish, so they typically do better in groups of 6 or more. Some tetras can be fin nippers. I've heard very few people complain about neon's nipping the fins of other fish.

If you do add the guppies, I would caution you to watch out and make sure the tetras do not nip the fins of the guppies. If they do, then you will need to take back the guppies or remove the tetras.

Also, what kind of pleco do you have? Many pleco species grow to be 12" or more. Keep an eye out since it is only a matter of time before the pleco outgrows a 20g tank/

  2. oh ya, thats a great size tank for them, as long as there's lots of places to hide, you should be fine! :)

  3. yes

  4. The tetra get a little too worked up sometimes but guppies seem to handle anything.   You have a great size tank.  people who have fish as a hobbie have fewer heart attacks and are more calm.
