Do the ANBU masks in Naruto have any meaning?

What do the masks for the ANBU in Naruto mean? Do they denote ranks or class types (Medical ANBU, Information Gathering ANBU, etc) or are they a personal affect?

Yes, they do symbol ANBU rank, but be careful, since in a naruto episode, he's in Tanzaku town i think; he can buy one at the market/festival. It also hides their identity, like kakashi hides his mouth, but he still has one(hopefully!!!!!!!)

The Mask themselves have no special meaning other than to show that they are anbu and hide there identity,the only significant accessory that the anbu have to show rank would be a cloak, all the anbu with white cloaks are squad leaders(but not all necessarily wear them)

Its because the rank and class ... The ANBU that are in information gathering (look a little like ... hmm a kind of mouse and cat mask ... )

the soldier ANBU has a Cat like mask .... its not really that obvious but if you look carefully you'l see it ...
