If you leave the roomette to go for dinner on the train, does it remain open or do you get a key for it to lock it off? Thanks

  1. There's no way to lock the room from the outside.  You can lock the room while you're inside.

The train attendant (there should be one for each sleeper) keeps an eye on things, and will challenge anyone he may see entering your compartment.

Still, take your purse/wallet and tickets with you while you roam around the train.  While the train is a pretty safe way to travel, there's no point in taking chances.
