  1. The government of the Peoples' Republic of China awarded a posthumous medal to Lieutenant Commander Wei. He was the pilot of the Chinese fighter aircraft which collided with one of our E2C reconnaissance aircrafts off Hainan Island in the Gulf of Tonkin  in early 2001. Our plane made an emergency landing on Hainan Island and the crew and the aircraft were later released back into U.S. custody.

Chinese media treated Lieutenant Commander Wei as a hero.

  2. Yes, of course they do.

  3. they were slaughtered by the japanese in the 2nd world war. the rest of their wars have been either in-fighting or bullying helpless countries like tibet. they don't actually fight in wars.

  4. They haven't fought any wars in recent generations, so I can't see any of their current soldiers having medals for valour in combat. They would have service medals available though.
