Do the Democrats on Y!A believe that Nancy Pelosi behaved in the best interest of the country yesterday?

I firmly believe that Pelosi does not care about the American people even though she professes to be a liberal in virtually all of her policies. She is a liar.  She is a multimillionaire and feels that she has to give back to the people that she robbed.  However, she doesn't give back anything.  Letting Congress go home to a 5 week vacation when the country is in grave trouble because of high gas prices should have been enough to make her and her cronies stay and thrash out the problem.  Even remain for many days into August as required.  By shutting down Congress and turning off the lights she showed America where the Democrats really stand on energy and this will hurt all of them including the elite one who is running for president. I hope that Americans understand this and don't vote Democratic this November.

Pelosi CLAIMS to be for the "poor" so she will "punish" the oil companies by keeping gas prices high, raising taxes on the gas companies, and preventing any further production of ANY type of energy that may help American industry.

When logically evaluated, Peloci wants to increase energy cost, reduce the number of jobs, and send more of our assets to our enemies.  

How does that "help" the "poor".

Republicans passed an energy bill in Clinton's term, about 10 years ago, and he vetoed it.

Republicans passed a bill to drill in Anwar a few years ago in Bush's term, and a Liberal Judge denied it.

GWB proposed the largest alternative energy bill in US history, and it was passed by a republican congress. Much more than the democrats have done, ever, in favor of developing any type of energy.

Funny how some miss out on the facts, isn't it?

PS. Yes, Bush and some republican's did go along with democrats to not drill off shore in California and Florida because the liberal press would have used it to damage them and cost them elections, and they should have braved it and voted for drilling anyway,

... so true, republicans didn't do all they could do to help head this disaster off ... while the democrats have worked for and towards this disaster with every fiber of their being. Democrats were so fervent and nasty (including the main stream media who are nothing but democrat operatives) that they even got republicans who should have known better, to go along with them to avoid getting run over.

Pelosi neither cares nor considers the good of the country, she only considers what is good for herself, and acts accordingly. How could anyone have missed that?

I left the Democratic party and am registered Independant.

I think Ms Pelosi acted in the interest of her constituants in San Francisco, and in the interest of her power fed ego.

Of course they do!  However, it definitely WAS NOT in the best interest of our country.  There is STILL no plan to help the American public with fuel prices.  The Dems are stalling because they want high prices.  That makes you mad and hey hope you'll blame everyone except them (thought they're the ones stalling in the first place).

The Democratic behavior on The Hill yesterday was completely and utterly reprehensible -- and if nothing else makes you vote 'straight Republican' this November, I hope that does. Because their inaction solely to further their own cause is enough reason to vote Nancy and company completely out of office.....

She acted in democrats interests in pursuit of power, it's pretty obvious to those who pay attention.

Why would the democrats wish to stop an effort in gaining oil and natural gas which would immediately lead to lower gas prices and a better economy?

Why would they lie about it?

It's simple, but democrats have such support in the media they can say whatever they want, as provably wrong and obviously dishonest as they want and it is reported as a difference of opinion and then it's put out as it's assumed that all opinions carry the same weight. The media is accomplice to deliberate lying on the part of the democrats on a number of issues, and joe q public getting news from the media can't know any better unless he investigated for himself, and puts the time into it the media won't do if the liar is a democrat.

THEY LIE BECAUSE THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

What is the motive? It's pretty obvious if you watch how all this stuff works. The democrats want to discredit anything republican and they are doing a smear campaign against republicans as well as deliberately sabotaging every effort our country makes, so they can point at the Bush Administration and say "failed" it's their new buzz word, defining the propaganda they not only push, but work to create.

The War is a good example, anyone who really looks into all the happenings and who said and did what knows the war was pushed by the democrats, or most of them even more strongly than republicans. It's also obvious how the democrats turned on the war for political purpose, worked to use it for propaganda, and even sabotage the effort.

There are many examples of how the democrats and the press have reported inaccurately and refused to report things that prove the democrats were lying or pushing for failure for propaganda reasons. The investigation of the Valory Plame thing for instance, driven by the political dirty trick by Joe Wilson and Clinton appointed factions in the CIA. There was never a crime, The prosecutor Fitzgerald knew who so called "outed" Valory, and knew there was nothing to "out". He told Armatage to be quiet about his actions for 3 years while they ran a scam investigation designed to influence the elections for the democrats and try to put someone in jail to put a taint on the Bush Administration. A conviction of a republican in Washington DC courts is like the conviction of a civil rights leader in Mississippi in the 50s, there is no question that the people of DC would convict any republican of anything regardless of evidence or lack of a crime or anything, just as the people of Mississippi would have a civil rights activist in the 50s.

Put that with the fact that the democrats do better in a down economy, where people are dependent on the government. Any economist worth a darn understands that higher taxes lead to a slower economy, less for the people, and less tax revenue once the effect settles in around 2 years later. High taxes don't bring in more revenue past the first couple of years, and they never have. Lower taxes have always resulted in more revenues, always, so why raise taxes? It's not about revenue, it's about governmental power via control of resources. Any argument against that is either ignorant, or dishonest.

So, why would the democrats lie about oil realities in order for us to stop drilling and getting more supply? Take a wild guess ... ok, for those slow people out there it's:

1. TO DAMAGE OUR ECONOMY, BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THEIR POWER LIES, IN CONTROLLING THE COUNTRIES RESOURCES THEMSELVES MAKING US DEPENDENT ON THEM.

2. TO DAMAGE OUR ECONOMY, SO THEY CAN POINT TO BUSH AND SAY THE ECONOMY WAS BAD ON HIS WATCH, AND SO BLAME THE BAD ECONOMY, WHICH WOULD GIVE THEM POWER, ON THE REPUBLICANS.

That is what this is all about. THEIR QUEST FOR POWER WITH TOTAL DISREGARD OF THE WELLBEING OF OUR PEOPLE.
