  3. I'm English and yes, I eat English muffins.  We used to just call them muffins and that's what you got, but now, with the invasion of the US cakey type muffin then you probably have to specify whether you want a cake type muffin or an English muffin.

    They're not crumpets either BTW for those who think they are.  Crumpets are not the same.   Neither are sweet, but they are both quite different.

    Crumpets I like toasted with just plain butter on, muffins I like toasted with bacon and brown sauce.

    Crumpets are a more doughy consistency whereas muffins are more like a heavy bread.

  4. Not sure about Po...erm..Brits,.. but Aussies don't eat muffins fresh.

    We like a muffin to be sitting around for about 20-30 years before we butter it up and jam and cream it.

    Mmmm Love jam & cream muffins.

  7. you cant buy the ' english ' muffins they sell in canada in the UK, there is no such thing , crumpets are totally different, the crumpets sold in the uk and canada are pretty much the same.

    what about the eec wanted to rename the english sausage to an emulsified high fat offal tube, because the meat content isnt high enough for the eec to be called a sausage.....wierd eh?......:)...a shame they have nothing better to do with their time...haha

  8. I don't know about the UK, but In Australia crumpets are sweet and best served with honey dripping through the holes. English muffins are not sweet.
