Do the Feds owe you anything?

Question

If you're unemployed - uneducated - homeowner in default due to not reading the fine print - minimal or no health care looking for a $20 hr. job after dropping out of high school, do you think the federal governement owes you by re-routing other's pay check tax dollars to you?

No, but it is each person's responsibility to care for his fellow man, within reason. I have no problem supporting a single mom on welfare, as long as she takes advantage of her ability to go to school and earn a degree, but I won't support her for the next 25 years.

Our government may not "owe" people like these anything, but I don't mind my taxes being used to help such people.  I'd rather see my taxes spent in that way than in a senseless war that has drowned us in debt forever.  We are in the mess we're in because of Bush and his party, and John McCain is not going to get us out of it.  McCain would make Bush's tax cuts to the rich permanent.  He will tell the RNC that Obama will raise our taxes, but he's talking to the rich, not to the average American.

They owe me for overtaxing me. There's is also the money they take from me for Socialist Security.

Yes they owe me the military defending our borders. That is really about the only thing that the Feds are supposed to be for in my view. I guess maintaining the Interstates as well, BUT if I'm unemployed then I really don't have to focus on those. Most roads should be maintained by the States. They don't owe you any money.

Since most of our army is made up of the people you just described above I would have to say yes they do but unpatriotic republicans while giving lip service to how they back our soldiers do nothing for them.

I don't fit any of what you said; but, we don't owe the federal government, state, or local at that; any of our money.  We should be reimbursed from the local, state, and federal.

We should put all in Congress on minimum wages and take from them as the do us.  Let's see how many of them would re-run after their first term in office.

Yes, I believe in the world view that we are all in this together. I have no problem paying taxes to help people back up after taking a risk or mistake. I don`t think the human is ultimately bad and needs restraining but rather gets desperate when lacking opportunity from a failure in capitalism. I believe that the economy should serve us not we should serve the economy. Supply side Greenpan Republican economics tempted us with credit and they knew that most would go over board. Our government is not some boogie man out to get us and has a place in the protectionist role, not just military protection.
