  1. They did when they had David Holwell at flyhalf.  He got them to their last Super 12 final. At the moment, I would say no since their playing is unstructured and they keep giving away turnovers. What they need to do is go for some more short passes and not do as many 50-50 plays. They need structure and if they can get that, they're in with a good chance of making the semis

  2. yeah i think they can make it once they get warmed up they can beat any team except for THE BLUES of course.

  3. No.     Too many turnovers, too many players trying to do it on their own.................

  4. Yeah, I reckon Matty D is totally on to it.

Frustrating as all h**l. They need the structure and discipline, they have the raw talent.

Howell will certainly be missed this time round too.

One thing worth noting is that the Canes will probably benefit more and faster from the ELVs than most "structured" teams.

  5. Short answer: No.

Long answer: If they wanted to make the semi's, they'd have to rediscover their spark, and so far they have not only failed to find it, they've put on what could only be described as pretty lacklustre games. Contrast their play so far to any of the top 6, and they are looking definitely substandard.

Of course, by saying this, I hope they get angry, and get back into the game. If so, I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

  6. Yes I do think they can and i also think that they will beat the crusaders in the final. Last week was a bit of a trial for the hurricanes but as the season progresses they will beat a lot of teams with their running rugby and fitness, when the other teams begin to wilt under pressure. GO THE CANES !!!!

  7. No they don't. They make to many fundamental mistakes and they do not posess the killer punch to finish a match.  They can get a 10 - 15 point lead but can't finish a game off.  The opposition are allowed to stay in the match and by way of example the Reds actually thought they were a chance of snatching victory with 5 minutes to go.  Also they have a horror draw and come week 8 they are on the road to h**l.

  8. After the first game when they had one of the most "headless chicken" performances I have ever seen , my answer would have been !@#$%^&* or words to that effect. ... this week they showed they had learnt so if they keep it up , and the tight five can handle it , they are in with a real show .

Backline looked good with Maa playing where he is most effective

  9. I`d like to think so , but too many individuals, trying to do it alone.

  10. not a chance, best placing would be 5th or 6th I think. As much as I don't like to say it, it will be Crusaders, Blues, Bulls then of course the Almighty Chiefs will qualify for the final spot with an amazing run down the home stretch!!! GO CHIEFS!!!
