Do the Iranians really believe their own propaganda?

Question

I keep seeing news articles of the Iranians warning the U.S and Israel that any attack would be met with great consequences.

But honestly, do they really believe that they could hold out against an Israeli attack with American support?

Iraq and Iran fought to a stand still 20 years ago, and I realize that's a long time but look how easily the U.S steamrolled the Iraqi military in 1991 AND 2003.

Iran is certainly a capable military, but there's not a snowball's chance in h**l that they could do anything more than inflict modest damage to aircraft and perhaps some ships if they managed to let some anti-ship missiles loose.

An occupation would obviously not go well at all, but honestly, why don't they shut up instead of taunting Israel and the States? A combined assault would surely devastate them rather easily, even Israel alone could probably project its power far enough to do serious damage and at the least protect its own airspace.

No they do not.  Ahmadinejad does this took look like the courageous leader for his people.  He refuses to let himself look like the "infidel" west could whoo him.  Oh, and the air defense systems whon't be in place until early 2009, which is why Israel will have to attack before then.  Iran can do nothing against Israel.  They have Shahab missiles, whose accuracy range is around a whole kilometer.  Israel has the Arrow defense system.  He is just blowing smoke, just like he did right before the Iran-Iraq war (He was doing the exact same thing in the 80's, and look what happened.  A stalemate).
