  1. Degree courses last for 3 years usually. And they don't take students by audition. You need to apply via UCAS.

A university will run three year degree courses within which you can specialise in performance, but will also study other things such as the history of music, composition, theory etc. You have to apply through UCAS, and some unis will call people for an audition, others won't they'll just look at what qualifications, experience and references you have. They'll hold auditions and interviews at different times during the year.

    If you want to study piano only, you should look at course run by specialist music colleges (mainly in London) such as the Royal Academy, Guildhall, Trinity etc. Their websites should give information about entry requirements
