Cause I hate hearing all these cheers in the background and them talking showing a US athlete and being like "Well, now he's watching the Russian gymnast krustovsky on the parallel bars." I want to see other teams too!!

  1. The people who video the Olympics have cameras a lots and lots of events, maybe all of them.

The video feeds are made available to broadcast companies, and each broadcast company chooses what it will show.

The Olympics coverage is different in different countries.  In the US, they focus on US athletes, but in other countries, they focus on the athletes from their country.

  2. I agree it would be nice to see and learn a little more about the athletes from other countries.  Besides, aren't the Olympics all about supporting the world and stuff?

  3. The U.S. networks tend to focus on the U.S. athletes and the medal contenders.  By filling dead time with chatter, they can switch to the routine of the top contenders when they start rather than switching in the middle of a routine.

Another problem with the prime time coverage in the U.S. is that it is still morning in China.  To some degree, that limits the events available to switch too.

  4. Most Americans are only interested in their team.  The broadcasters know this.

As long as the US is on screen, there is less chance of someone changing the channel.

I agree with you completely! I'm just saying.

  5. The problem is that they are only going to show the teams in competition for medals.

So, if Trinidad and Tobago put a gymnastic team up, since they are going to be so far out of the competiton, they are never seen

  6. I suppose it is because you're watching in the U.S.  They focus mainly on athletes that represent our home country.
