  1. Yes, the Phillies do have what it takes..their offense is getting back on track and their pitching is keeping them in the games.....we have the bullpen we need in order to win it all. We just need someone to be able to stick it out in the 8th...I think Durbin can do it but he just hasn't been able to do it lately.  Yes, we have what it takes.  We'll win the division. (knock on wood)

edit: I'd take Pat Burrell over Manny Ramirez any day.

  2. oh yea i think they got what it takes to win.  its all mental for us.  we have thelethal hitters that it takes to bring home runs but the question is are they hot.  the phillies are a really streaky team and if their hot towards the end the next few weeks we will definatly win the division.  Go phils.

  3. naw you gotta be honesty i know yo a big Phillies fan but just look at it the Phillies are not gonna win the NL East see im a Die Hard Mets fan but i admit it if the Mets go to playoffs they is not going nowhere but just home because the cubs the Brewers in even if they go to WS Rays,Angels in ill admit it i think its gonna come down to last game because i think when the Mets play the Phillies i think the phillies are gonna kill them shut them out 3 series but no Mets win NL East

  4. As a Met fan I respect the Phillies a lot, they have an enormous amount of talent and heart.  Though after Hammels their pitching takes a deep dive.  They will be in the running until the last week, I see the Mets winning by a game or two.  Plus the Phillies offense is so inconsistent, they should be the best offensive team in the NL and their not.

  5. Of course our Phillies have what it takes. I was going nuts last night and the night before because our bull pen has been taking a hit, but there just tired. They'll pull thourgh for us and we'll be dancing on our way to victoy for the second year in a row. Go Phills! :)

  6. No. Their starting pitching(Hamels excluded) is not championship caliber. The bullpen has been overused and has crumbled the last two nights. The hitting is inconsistent (Howard is a strikeout machine.). The starting catcher is not hitting a l**k.The bench is fair. Management sat and watched as Sabathia and Harden were traded to two NL clubs. Manny Ramirez would have been a huge upgrade over Pat Burrell but they watched that one also. The Phils get Joe Blanton and Matt Stairs. Enough said. The team's management is not hungry enough and this is why the Phils have won 1 World Series in 125 years.

  7. Unfortunately, the pitching will let them down. I see them finishing behind the Mets by 1-2 games. However, they can win the wild card with a good showing against the Brewers, which is a definite possibility given Milwaukee's penchant for late season slides like last year.

  8. I'm not a Phillie fan, but I think the Mets will win the NL East, I think of the 2 Manuel's, Jerry is better than Charlie. There's the major difference right there.

  9. The Mets can never hold off the Phillies or the Braves or whoever is good that year. And it's not going to be any different this year. Now the Mets have an injured closer (like he was any good when he was healthy anyway) and the Phillies are going to work harder. Charlie Manuel will push them and Howard, Utley, Rollins, and Burrell are going ot turn it on and win the division by at least 4 games.

  10. It's gonna be tough here soon because we got 3 more games against the Cubs while the Mets go play the slumping Marlins...We should be tied for the NL East lead right now if retarded Charlie wouldn't of pulled Hamels out last night...I swear i don't get why we keep him around he's just manager a good team and is whats holding us back from being better.

  11. They might sneak into the playoffs again, and playing the Nats in late September is the perfect setup for a comeback.  This time though they have to beat more than just the neurotic Mets.  I think it probably won't happen with the Brewers talented pitchers in the mix (not to mention the Phillies bullpen issues).

  12. They have the heavy hitters. They have the ability to play small ball. Most of the time, they have the pitching. All of the ingredients are in place to make a run for it...if they would just stop leaving so many guys stranded on base.

    it's killing me.

  13. Yes they do. Im not a Phillies fan but they're a better team then the Mets

  14. The offense is getting better but the pen ruined some wins. Aramis Ramirez's grand slam was in my nightmare last night. Now I fear that Hardens pitching performances today will be in my nightmare tonight.

  15. the phillies have what it takes but i think the mets win the east by one game

  16. I didn't read any of the other answers....but yeah, lately Charlie hasn't been doing so welll....I mean, come on, Dobbs comes up tonight with no outs and runners on 1st and 2nd and he doesnt bunt him??? Wtf was that about??  HE STRUCK OUT.  If he bunts over the man on 2nd and then someone hits a sac fly, that game is tied.

But anyway, yeah, I think they can do it, but the absolutely can not get swept by the cubs.  And we need the mets to LOSE
