Yes, of course they can. Sure the yankees have had 26 world series rings. But how many have they had this millennium? One if you would include the 2000 Postseason. The red sox have won 2 rings in the past for years. I'm a diehard sox fan but i really respect all of the yankees and think they are a great team. And no offense but if you were really a true fan of the game you would realize that the sox have been a great team.

Hmm..... The Red Sox are making the playoffs this year, the Yankees aren't. I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that but it is ignorant for a fan of a team who is not going to the playoffs this year to come on here and talk trash about a team who, in recent years, has been more successful. What you are doing would be equivalent to me comming on here and saying "do the Dodgers really think they can compete against the Giants?" The Red Sox proved that, at least this year, they can. Do not bash them.

Definitely not all-time, but this year the Red Sox are much better.

Of course they think they have a chance. They're coming off two recent World Series, one of which was monumental, and they are currently 4.5 back in the division, and they lead the wild card.
