I was told that the United States and Russia have a land-border on one or several of the islands near Alaska, but I can't find confirmation (or dis-confirmation) online? Does anyone know conclusively?

  1. No.

  2. Nope. There is a border on a map that separ8s some Russian islands from U.S. islands, such as the Diomede Islands as a previous answerer mentioned. A few other facts; the International Date Line bends around Russia as it passes through the 180th meridian. & Russia does border Norway. Norway is a NATO country & that was a bigger deal when it bordered the USSR.

  3. No, it doesn't.

Alaska and Russia are separated by the Bering Strait, Bering Sea-Pacific Ocean, and Arctic Ocean.

  4. No, they don't share a common border.  However, the Diomede Islands are very close to one another.  Big Diomede is part of Russia and Little Diomede is part of Alaska.

  5. Little Diomede Island (U.S.) and Big Diomede Island (Russia) in the Bering Strait are the two closest points of land between the countries.   They're 2.4 miles apart - not a shared land border, but very close.

  6. no

  7. They've always said there was a land bridge at one time in the Bering Strait that's now underwater, so it might be true
