I know that the athletes are responsible of getting to the trials and everything but do the athletes have to pay their way to the olympics? If they do, do they just pay their plane tickets or do they pay rooms and food and everything else?

  1. If you become an athletes then you will know all the answers yourself.

  2. the second answer is incredibly rude.  lots of people are athletes and don't know how the olympic system works.  only the tiniest fraction of athletes ever make it to the elite/world class level, let alone the olympic level.  that comment was uncalled for, i wish i was at a higher level, so i could give it a thumbs down.

  3. The government takes care of that.

  4. The link below is to the 2007-2008 Athlete Support Program.  It highlights what the medal winners receive and health insurance, tuition grants, etc. Hope this helps.
