  1. no he will be on the dl going into September just like the last couple of years

  2. I don't think it will hurt and Konerko could use some time on the bench

  3. I think the White Sox could use a better starting rotation. Maybe Griffey will alleviate some of the pressure off Jermaine Dye?

  4. it would have made more sense last year.  but he can DH in the AL

  5. no. they have enough offense. they need pitching and bullpen. there lineup is fine

  6. I don't think its a very good move, I'm not dissing Jr. but I just don't think he's what they need. He fits in fine which is the problem. You have a slugging lineup and Jr. just adds to it, so if none of them are hot they're screwed as a team. I would have gotten a small baller.

  7. they really need bullpen help er a starting pitcher. but now they can afford 2 bench konerko.

  8. It was a surprising trade, but I think it will turn out go for the Sox. They basically gave up very little for a future Hall of Famer. Richar was always going to be stuck behind Ramirez at 2nd and Masset just wasn't working out (55 hits in 44 ip and an OBA of +300).

While it's true that Jr. is past his prime, I think he still has alot of production in him. I think he will benefit from playing at the Cell and will get chances to see some good pitches because of Dye, Quentin, Thome.

I am not sure where they are going to put him. I think this trade might have been made because the Sox are starting to lose patience with Konerko and the slump he's been in.

Maybe, they will give Jr. a chance in the center and move Swisher to first. Jr. wouldn't have to play the whole game, but just enough to get two or three at bats. Then, Anderson or Wise will replace him for defensive reasons.

I think this move was made because Williams wants to win now. Unlike others, I think the Sox pitching is good enough to get them through the season, especially after Contreras and Linebrink come back. Besides, the Sox weren't going to get a front line starter with out giving up someone of equal value.

But, with Crede out and with Konerko in a slump, the Sox have a hole in their line up. Perhaps Jr. can help partially fill it.

  9. Kenny Williams is an idiot.

  10. Need? no, but does it help? Yes.

I think the Sox really could have done with pitching because like Ozzie says pitching sets the tone.

Lately out starters and bullpen havn't been as good.

I hope it plays out that we can get it done with the guys we have, but it looks like we need more pitching.

I think Griffey is a tough player to add because like it has been said we have a DH and the corner OF positions are also taken.

I hope he plays into the playoff race and becomes someone that the White Sox use well.

I don't think it could really hurt because we are not paying his contract for this year, so if he doesn't preform we can just go back to how it was before with Paulie at 1st and Nick in CF

There appeared to be greater needs yes, but I do think the price was too high for pitchers. Not many teams got pitching and everyone needs it.

Also sometimes adding someone gives you some hype, so it makes the players feel like your trying. It gives the message that you wanna win now.

As a White Sox fan overall I'm happy about this trade. I would have prefered a pitcher, but I'll take this happily.

  11. no they dont he has only 15 HRS this season and now adds more to their crowded outfield

  12. Yes I think they need him.  I predicted that Konerko would have 40 homers this season, and that has not happened to any extent.  This trade could boost Griffey's morale, showing that someone actually wants him, and this trade got rid of Masset, which is a very good thing.  Now they just have to get rid of Logan and their bullpen might have a chance.  It seems that every time that one of them come in, the opponents hit a home run or like a 2 RBI double.

  13. No. They don't really need him, but he can be a DH in the AL as someone before me said. He has 53 RBI's, and 15HR's which means he still can produce some runs. Besides, it's always nice to have depth and we all know that Jr. can still field with the best of them.
