  1. No way - they are an anachronism in the 21st century, a totally dysfunctional family - who are incredibly rich in their own right and still taking money from tax payers.

We could get more money from tourists by turning Buckingham palace into a hotel!

    Bring on the republic!

  2. yes there absolutely no hassle to us,

    and bring in tourism.

  3. No!

They have a wealth of money, yet we still have to pay for them in our taxes. And tell me how they bring benefits? If you mean from tourism and bringing money in from that, then it still doesn't benefit me 'cos I don't live in London.

The only way they can be of benefit is to put their hand in their pocket and give this country some of their millions.

  4. No . People say they bring in more tourists but that's a pathetic reason to have a royal family , you might as well have another theme park.

Countries like France and Egypt get more tourists without a royal family

  5. Yea they get taxed the gov treates them like rubish and they don't have any real power now they just act like a stamp on things for the gov.

They bring in tourism which is really important for this country and they vist places that had foot and mouth and stuff so they do try on the other hand if they don't like you, you end up in a 'car accident'.

  6. I don't care about no sissy royal family

  7. What would those "benefits" be?  Private parties for elites & dignitaries of the world?  I honestly can't see the rewards of a monarchy.  But then, I am an American whose ancestors came to America to escape English rule.  I wish they had stayed & fought harder to stop a corrupt group of high powered thieves who are still causing trouble to this very day.  I can't believe that the ruling powers of my country decided it was in the "best interest" of world peace to get into bed with the UK.  There is much I don't understand when it comes to politics.  It is all about "old money & blood lines".  In the states, we call it "the good ol'e boy network"!

  8. If the British like them and they pay for them, what the heck.

  9. Benefits? Sorry what are the benefits? A class-ridden society; a future king with ideas boardering on the mad (homeopathy); old fashioned (architecture, hunting); and reactionary (expecting his home to be paid for by tax payers when he earns a fortune).

Let the Queen finish her reign then if prince charles thinks he is so good he could stand for election as President.

  10. if people did  research they would see that we get more from the royal family than they get from us(sorry our democratic "lol" government gets more,

also think about the jobs they provide ,

i bet  most of the people who say get shut don't know a thing about  the history of Great Britain,

i wonder how many know what happened in 1066  ??

  11. No. Never. We need a republic and we need it now.

  12. I'm an American, and when I consider the choice made by the American people for the "current occupant" of the White House, I'd be happier having an impotent monarch as head of state, paired with a prime minister who is far easier to remove than a president. Elizabeth II has done far more good for your country than ill. You should be grateful.

  13. No Way!

They cost us a fortune and for what?

We are all equal, Royalty is an expense that the country can't afford!

  14. The Royal Family, is very important to the strength and integrity of Great Britain. The Royal Family acts as a finial check and balance of power against the British Parliament. The Queen can still refuse the Royal Assent. And if public support backed that action in the case of more taxation, then it would not receive her assent and become law. Her Assent can not be overridden. The Royal Family ensures that citizens of the United Kingdom retain their democratic rights. This ensures that the United Kingdom will not split into civil war and allow the rise of a dictatorship or tyrant, as has happened in the past.

  15. No. Not when Charles and Philip say such patronising and ridiculous comments all the time.

  16. I say yes, they do.  The Royals bring a since of living history and charm. To lose them would be a travesty.

  17. Waste of space the whole lot of them,,there are hungry kids here in the UK,,never seen any of the Royals put their hands in their pockets,,Mr Al Fayed does more for the kids here
