  1. The first Cajun's were White French Canadians that were exiled from the area of Canada then known as Acadia.  The word Cajun is a variant of the word "Acadian" or in French "Les Cadian's". They migrated down the Eastern seaboard to Louisiana which at the time was controlled by France.

Louisiana at the time consisted of White Europeans of French and Spanish descent (Louisiana belonged to Spain before France), Native Americans and also Africans that were imported to work as Slaves for the French and Spanish.  Naturally there was some mixing and the Creole culture was born.  Creoles can can be Black or Native American mixed with White (French and Spanish) but a true "Cajun" is a  descendant of the original French Canadian immigrants.  Also, not all Black people in Lousiana can claim to be part of the Creole culture because their ancestors never mixed with the Europeans.

  2. YES.

  3. Célestine Ann Beyince (Tina Knowles) is considered by most to be Louisiana Creole, which is a mix.  To many deep Southerner, any amount of African-American blood is considered African-American.  Sad, but true.

Louisiana Creole is usually a mix of African-American, Native American and French Acadian.  Those with blue and green eyes who have lost their accent and moved from Louisiana, have and can be accepted as non-black.

    Human prejudice knows no bounds.
