  1. when u dock at an island...u can get off the boat and do things on shore. theres TONS of stuff to do onboard....watch movies in the theatre....shop...work out....swim...eat...i mean....lots...then there are things to do off the boat....but u'd have to check with the company to see what all u can do. i think oceanview is better but inside cabin is least expensive. but u really wont spend alot of time in ur room....so i mean, whatever.

  2. Go to the library and get a book on cruising.  It will give you a good overview of the experience.

There are more activities on the ship than you will have time for, everything from art auctions, to bingo, to trivia, to hairy chest contests, to wine tastings, etc, etc.

The cruise ship will make one or two stops on a 3-day cruise, maybe 3 on a five-day cruise.  At each stop you will stay for several hours [e.g. 8 am - 5 pm] and you can either do an excursion arranged by the cruise line or go out on your own.  The ship's tours will be more expensive, but if the tour is running late, the ship will wait for you.  If you go on your own, they'll leave without you if you're late.

Inside, outside, balcony, suite - depends on what you want.  Inside is the cheapest, but has no window, so you have no idea what time it is [take a clock/watch - there are none in the room].  Outside has a porthole or window [doesn't open] and cost a bit more than an inside.  Balcony has a sliding door to a very small balcony with chair[s].  Suite has more than one room, usually a balcony, a bathtub, etc, and is the most expensive type of cabin.
