Question:

Do the fastest train run on gas?

We need to build one...

Imagine how many people we can hire to build a special railroad track...

From California to Carolina....

And then From Florida to Washington.

From Maine to Texas.

Forget planes.

Can we have our own fastest train?

That goes 300 mph.

And does it have to use gas or electric?

If electricity, then I guess it will be cheaper.

  1. No.....magnetic.

  2. You will need an electric train to travel at that speed. Trains don't run on gas. Mainly electric or diesel: electric for speed, diesel for the power needed to shift heavy freight.

  3. America already has a bullet train, but it only goes about 150 MPH. It is surpassed by the French TGV, and the Japanese Shinkansen. As for how they get their power, most are electically driven...

  4. The fastest trains would be Magnetic Levitation trains, also known as Mag-Lev. The fastest one so far has reached speeds over 350mph. The problem is that they are expensive, and to build a system from the east coast to the west coast as well as the money to run the train would be far more costly than just flying, which would still be faster for the most part.

  5. Many, many people believe that maglev trains are the fastest on Earth, however this is no longer true.

The French TGV train or "Train a grande vitesse" has broken the all time record. This is an electric train, getting power from overheard wires. So, the fastest trains do not run on gas, they run on electricity. You wont find a gas train reaching more than 100mph because it is too heavy. Plus their propper names are diesel trains.

    Hope that helped. =)

  6. Magnetic levitation, just floating, least resistance, so max speed! yes, i am with you, let us build the fastest track!

  7. You are absolutely correct, we need a much better high speed surface transportation system, and the only thing needed to get it started is for we as a populace to tell our elected representatives to look beyond their next election and think toward the future and the betterment of the country as a whole and NOT just their own special district.

Magnetic Levitation is NOT an answer for high speed cross country travel.

Much much too expensive and only not really any faster than high speed conventional rail.

For the money spent on one mile of Maglev you could upgrade hundreds of miles of high speed rail, using existing lines, existing property, existing terminals.

Maglevs need very specialized equipment that is not compatible wiht anything. High speed rail is compatible with most of the rail lines in the U.S. and high speed can be phased in as traffic levels and passenger numbers require.

Trains could become the best way to travel, for several reasons.

Rail passenger stations are already built in or near the heart and downtown areas of most major cities, no need for a lengthy commute from a distant airport, no long lines while TSA people do their thing, no agonizing wait for your luggage to come down the ramp in tatters.

High speed rail can already go 350 MPH in actual use.

High speed rail is electircally driven via overhead lines.

Actually the fastest rail in the world is a test track in the U.S., we have the technology, we just need to make it happen.

  8. the fastest train can run with Electric ofcourse.

    how?

you know LIM(Linear Induction motor) or Mono rail?

and that is using electric. It is already used in foriegn countries,.Installation cost is High in that case. India also thinking about mono rail.

using that we can get fastest train.
