  1. i don't  think that's the case with him, as a matter of fact it should be the opposite. his popularity will always make it easy for him to keep a ride and a sponsor. most drivers don't have that luxury. his fans will stick with him through h**l or high water.

  2. I know everybody compares drivers to drivers, but I want to compare Jr. to the man he is trailing in points, in order to see the "stress" these two have.

It’s interesting, but if you watch the two racers in interviews, and you ask yourself which one looks happier, I’d say Kyle Busch. Why (aside from Dale not winning often)? Because Kyle is still young enough and new enough not to have the weight of the fandom (some would say of NASCAR itself) on his shoulders, unlike Junior. I think that if it were anyone else, the expectations wouldn’t be as high, and I firmly believe it’s unfair to Junior to put as much expectation on him as his fans do. They should love him for being a very good man and a fairly good racer, and let it go at that. Don’t act like he’s entitled to win or expect him to win every race. Bad breaks happen to him too, he’s not immune to them. Because ultimately he’s very much like every other racer out there – human. I think being son of The Intimidator is probably puts enough pressure on him to perform – to say nothing of the pressure he puts on himself. His fans should give him a break.

As for Kyle, don’t forget his background – he’s 23, sure (and I know I had a fairly big stick up my butt still at 23 because I was young and still knew everything), but he was raised different than most of us. While we all did high school in four years, hung out with friends in the summers and after school, and in some cases went off to college by the time we were 23, he was pushing to finish HS in 3 years (a pretty remarkable feat - Go Kyle) while spending all his free time at tracks and around cars so he could get where he is today. No time for friends. Translation: he still needs to learn the social skills that we all take for granted by that age, and boy it shows on occasion – like it did for his brother. Those will come with time. So we have a 23 year old who often acts much younger who also has incredible skills with a car (or anything else he chooses to race). That makes him a pretty unique and volatile mix, and frankly, I wouldn’t change him for the world because it’d be a lot more boring otherwise. I trust the other racers, NASCAR, and his owner-boss to deal with him if he gets too far out of line. It’s not the fan’s job to do that – throwing cans and fingers doesn’t help. Basically, Jr. fans should realize that Jr. is NOT perfect, and is NOT his father. After that they need to begin showing respect for other drivers who are just as, if not more talented than Dale Jr., ins't of being disrespectful to anyone that beats Jr.

  3. No, its the media, he has the biggest shoes in the world to fill.  I got so tierd of hearing how many races he has gone winless.  How many has kyle petty gone? Now they are on tony stewert, gordon, and harvick.

  4. Not really, but within your mind, due to a phobic thought process, you have obviously been propelled to ask this question. I'm going to coddle your mental instabilities, and say "yes". Now, that should either put you at comfort, or exacerbate your deviant way of thinking.

  5. mr rainbow man i agree sort of.  a lot of the jr fans actions put stress on the driver but i don't think high expectations is what puts stress on him it is their actions.  i think he puts the stress of winning on himself.

  6. I don't think so.  As a matter of fact, I don't think Jr gives a c**p about the fans' feelings.  He wants to win.  He wants his daddy to be proud of him.  And I think he is good... he's consistent, #2 in points.

  7. Jr fans are the trekkies of NASCAR

  8. He's always put a lot of pressure on himself to win. Sure he feels it from his fans, but with everything he went through last year and knowing that pretty much all of us stuck by him he should feel pretty confident and comfortable with us by now.

And NO, I do not agree with you about him not being very good...I am a true fan so I will never ever say that! Fans of all sports know that you never say the person or team you pull for isn't good...that's the opposite of being a fan!

  9. I think going back to his Busch Series days that he has has always put more pressure on himself than his dad or fans ever did.
