  1. Dallas is my team but we are still a few years away maybe two but Yao and Gasol are two big centers in the west the dampier and diop can not hold or rebound against.

  2. No im sorry but they have no chance.  As the Mavericks (several years ago was the most talented team in the NBA in my opinion) have taken steps backwards, the Rockets have just gotten incredibly deep.  Adding Artest is huge, not to mention adding Brent Barry.  The signing of Brent is not s**y but the Rockets clearly lacked a great shooter and now they have one of the best in the league.

The Mavs made a fatal mistake trading away so much to get a declining Jason Kidd.  He was virtually useless in the Hornets series.  They still have Dirk and Josh Howard...but after Jason terry they really dont have much.  I would say they finish 7th this year personally.

    My order:

    1.  Houston: If they stay healthy of course.  This deep team just got a whole lot deeper with Artest and Brent Barry.  The Rockets are loaded and anything less than a title will be a dissapointment.

    2. Lakers:  I hate to admit it but they are a great team.  With the highway robbery deal of Pau Gasol, they will be tough.  I still think they are to weak at the defensive end to be number one. Houston is more well rounded

    3. New Orleans:  What a team on the rise.  This is the team to beat in a couple years. Huge pick up by signing James Posey

    4. San Antonio: It seems they win the title every other year.  So is this their year?  Im going with no.  Getting older, more depleted...but never count them out.

    5.  Utah:  The Jazz are always tough...just not quite there withough a legit center

6.Portland:  My suprise pick. But if Oden is healthy and is as good as we think....they can really turn heads

    7.  Dallas:  Far to depleted and just simply not the same team they were 3 years ago.  Very solid, could win a first round series....but just to hard to imagine them making it out of the brutal west.

8:  Phoenix:  So the Shaq trade didn't work.  Hard to imagine how far these guys and Dallas have fallen.  Two years ago they would have been the top two on my list.  How times have changed.

  3. no hornets and spurs are also in same division and would likely place 1 and 2. mavs seemed poised to take no. 3 but with artest joining rockets coach adelman will look to place no. 2 and dislodge the spurs. yao ming mcgrady artest battier scola. wow!

  4. Mavs are old news, they need to make some moves.rockets will win the division.
