Do the new 3G iphones work like the old ones?

like if im in canada can i go to rogers and uy it and activate it at home/unlock it? cuz i have the old iphone that i bought when i went to vegas and it was super easy to unlock. are they forcing buyers to activate at the store or can they still be unlocked?

  1. The iPhone 3G must be activated in the store before you can leave with it.  This is to keep people from unlocking and jailbreaking the new iPhone.  Sorry.
