Do the new fingerprint process also imply to the current reentry permit holder?

I applied for reentry permit a year ago and the permit won't be expire until 9 months later. The new law require reentry permit applicants to go through the fingerprint process. As a current reentry permit holder, do I need to do the fingerprint or I can just wait until next time I need to reapply for the reentry permit?

Why not do it now?  

If you have nothing to hide - surely you won't mind giving them a little bitty print of yours.....
