Do the people who got the Gary Glitter question deleted think they achieved something?

I answered it with the following comment

abuse is likely to cause harm in adult life and affect a person's relationships FOREVER, including affecting any children they may have.

as for the extent of it - it is absolutely rife. People think that there may be a few s*x offenders in their locality but the reality is that there will be tens of them and many more who have not got caught yet.

Gary Glitter has had an easy ride. There will have been many more children that he has abused in the past that we don't know about. It is a fact that paedophiles start when they are young, even in their teens. We need more people like him to be made an example of.

I was adding an edit when it got deleted - we need to know that people have stupid or naive viewpoints, getting their questions deleted will not make them go away

who never got caught

will not get caught

because my grandma was too desparate to replace her dead husband

to realise her children needed her

and even when she did

she didnt do anything

so he got away with it

how many others got away with it?

How many lives have been ruined and for what justice?

I agree with you. Where I live there are two that have been convicted - one twice.  The last time, a few years ago, for raping his mentally impaired daughter. He actually was insistent that she lead him on!  What kind of a father would be lead on my his daughter even if that were true?  They sicken me to my stomach and walk around ogling little kids as free as birds.  You are also right that there will be plenty that are not convicted that do things behind closed door that will never be discovered.  The one who claimed his daughter lead him on I am reminded of every time Gary Glitter speaks to proclaim 'I'm Innocent.' 'I have done nothing!'  Total belief they are the victims and we should feel sorry for them!  He has an easy ride and his claims that his trial was unfair is a gross insult to his victims and that solicitor of his should be shoot for reading his statement for self proclaimed innocence in light all the evidence there is against him.  I have to say though that not even he seemed to put any conviction behind reading Glitters' statement of innocence which says it all.  He's already been convicted here of having child p**n on his computer and he thinks its a witch hunter that is responsible for him having to sign the s*x offenders register!  He was guilt here and he was guilty in Vietnam. He should have to walk around with a big yellow boiler suit on with kiddies beware paedophile as why should he be allowed the right to be free when his victims will suffer for the rest of their lives and as you pointed out so could their kids.

Youre probably correct in saying that there are scores of them in each community, I wish that their sentence was the same as that of a murderer.

I don't really see what getting a question deleted achieves,if someone asks a stupid question then all they do is show their mentality,surely it's better to leave it so people can judge for themselves.

You are making valid and useful points with your answer.  The trouble is, too many people on here answer with knee-jerk emotional outbursts that are neither valid nor useful.  These can contain threats of violence and are therefore against yahoo guidelines.

If people posted more adult and considered responses like yours, useful questions wouldn't get deleted.
