  1. Yes they do. that's why they call then get info then arrest you. Why? They love arresting random people who are either punkrock or hardcore. We need to somehow stand up and **** them in the face. THEY EVEN KILL INNOSCENT TEENS FOR STARTING A RIOT!!! they have a future but they take it all away.

overall they do that to get some info its an espionage

  2. no they do not.

the number usually comes up as a switchboard number, as all calls go through the police switchboard. and it is usually the same one posted as a contact on the refrigerator magnet.

  3. Many do if they are calling from their own desk. That's true with a number of companies and businesses. It's common for the desk number to be blocked so that you have to call the main number and be put through by the switchboard.

  4. Most Government Department numbers here in New South Wales (Australia) will show as being "private"or "withheld" as they go through the switchboard. The same applies for companies and Government departments etc across most of the world.

    Nothing secretive or fancy.

  5. They shouldn't...I know I'm not the only person who won't answer the phone if the number is blocked or its a number i don't recognize.

  6. No they do not block the number, they can, however, at their own discression block their personal number if they're calling from their cell/home/desk.

But police station/dept numbers, no they are not blocked.

  7. Not intentionally.  Many lines are only allowed outgoing calls so the information may come up as unavailable.

  8. ANYONE can block the number they are calling form on caller ID.  When calling from a BPX (private exchange) the question is usually not can they block the number.  A better question is will the BPX supply the actual number.  At the company where I work (not law enforcement), any outgoing calls appear on caller ID as the number assigned the the physical line exiting the PBX.  The actual extension that originated the call is not displayed.  This is not 'blocking' per se.  It is a limitation of the equipment.

  9. Why would they do that? I have gotten phone calls from the police dept. for different things and my caller I.D. always had said that the calls were from the police dept.

  10. When I was on the job, if I were using my personal cell phone, you can bet your left nut I'm not giving out my number. That's just asking for trouble. If I was allowing people to use my phone, I wouldn't ask them to block it but if I was calling people myself, I'd always block it.

If I was at the station and called from the phone there I didn't block it. You can have that number all you want but someone else will have to deal with harassing calls...not me. lol
