Question:

Do the room service staff have the right to enter your hotel room anytime they want?

I left my hotel room during the day. When I returned in the afternoon, I noticed that someone has cleaned the room.

I felt angry, because I've left my laptop in my room.

They could have stolen it.

Is this way hotels work?

  1. yes they are all like that if you dont want stuff too be stole put the stuff in your locker *the safe in your room*

and if u dont want them entering the room place a do not disturb sign there

most of the rooms service people are like very honest female workers, so you can trust them

  2. NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM THAT MAY BE STOLEN!!!

Besides room service, you must also worry about other people who have stayed in the same room (especially if it is a metal key (versus electronic key).  When you are in the room, make sure that you use the security lock to keep people from entering!

  3. It is your responsibility to secure your belongings.  It is common knowledge that the cleaning staff comes in and cleans the room during the day.  If you leave your stuff out and it is gone when you return, it is your word against theirs.  Now if you had put is away and they went looking for it, then it is their fault.

  4. yup

  5. that is the way it works.  If you do not want room service put out the do not disturb sign and they will not enter the room.  They always knock first to see if you are in the room.  It is always a good idea to take your valuables anyway.  The hotel will not be responsible for lost items unless the room has a safe in it.

  6. Yes. They knock before entering so as to preserve your privacy ( and you can bolt the door so as to prevent someone using the key) BUT they can enter the room to service it. Sometimes there is a safe in the room you can use to store valuables OR you can usually leave them at the front desk but, otherwise, it's at your risk although you can report thefts and hope that someone can identify who took what.
