  1. Some are on timers, so they would, but I believe most newer ones are outfitted with a light sensor that kicks them on that why when it gets a little dark when real thick storm clouds start coming in the street lights come on.

  2. yes there are on a timer.

  3. depends on how they are controlled.

some are ganged with a timed switch, which means thay all come on at the same time

some have photoelectric swtiches which turn on at a certain level of brightness (or darkness if you prefer). these should turn on nat about the same time, but due to differences in light levels at each light, the time can vary quite considerably.

  4. All street lights are on a Photocells that turns them on when it starts to get dark and off when it starts to get light. You can see the photocells on top of the lights. It's about two inches round and two inches high and stick up in the center of the top of the light. There are NO TIMERS. Have you ever seen any one changing the time when we set the clock a head or back. They would have to do that to every street light. That would be to costly & waste time for the city or electric company. The only lights that would be on a timer is parking lot lights and out side on privete property. The timers would be in the building and connected to the light towers by underground wireing for that property. some private property also uses photo cells for turning their lights on & off too.
