  1. if you are not sure if you can do a tax return yourself then you probably should not be doing one at all... you do not want the IRS to be after you for anything...

  2. If your in Australia and England you can do it yourself without having to pay for an accountant. I don't know about anywhere else though. You can also do it online. You will need your group certificates (from your employer) to prove your tax payments to claim it back. Since you have only worked 5 months of the financial year, you are sure to get most of it back!

  3. Just go to the ATO (Australian taxation office) website www.ato.gov.au and download etax. It's quick and simple and make it realy easy to do your own tax and then lodge it electronically. You should get the full $700 back as you earnt under the tax free threshold amount of $6000. You should get your refund within 14 days lodging it that way and it won't cost you a cent!

Here is a link to the download page. Hope it helps http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/conten...

  4. Yes you can do the tax return yourself. And you will be entitled to that full $700 back, providing that $4500 is the only income you have earnt. Just go to a newsagency or post office and get a tax pack or lodge online on e-tax. They are both quite easy to work out.

  5. Too easy. Go to the post office and ask for a tax pack, it will be free of charge. As long as you know how much you've earnt then it will be simple as. It will give clear instructions on what to do, then just send it away. Cheap and simple. : )

  6. Yeah you CAN do it yourself. But just remember that if you hire someone to do it, that fee is tax deductable so as long as you have the money up front, you'll get it back.. eventually! Also many tax dudes will do student taxes for about $50.
