  1. anti clockwise

  2. They flush the same as they do all over the world, the earths rotation has nothing to do with it, nor the earths tilt.

  3. Toilets flush in whatever direction their jets are pointing.

The Coriolis effect does not affect the way water drains in normal life.  The impact is far too small, minor air currents and imperfections in the basin are far more influential.

The only way it would effect the way water drains is if you have a very large conical basin, with no imperfections, in a room with no air currents.  So, basically only in a very controlled study, and not in real life.

  4. Toilets in the Southern Hemisphere, which includes Australia, flush anti (or counter) clockwise, the opposite of the Northern Hemisphere

  5. how many idiots are there in Australia? toilet water doesn't swirl it just gushes to the bottom of the toilet the quickest way possible.... go flush your dunny and see for yourself!!!

  6. In Australia, we have much less water in our toilet bowls than in the US. The water doesn't swirl around in either direction really.

    I know mine don't.

  7. It's impossible to see the flushing direction in Australian toilets. It may be possible though, in older designs.

Lol, did you got the idea of asking this question from the Simpsons episode?

    LOL...

  8. It doesn't go in either, the way they go on toilets that do go in one direction or the other is due to the toilet itself (and which way the jets are facing, not where it is. Here the water just goes down as that's the way they jets are pointing, we also use alot less water than in some countries, as a large amount of the country is basically desert.

  9. Check out http://www.youtube.com lots of videos of toilets flushing in australia.

  10. didn;t ya know they flush up.  so watch out. There is a saying here "never look a toilet in the eye"////

  11. Toilets in Australia contain very little water and do not actually flush. There is a suction device that when you 'flush' the toilet sucks everything out and then it refills with water to exclude the smells. It is not possible to see which direction the water flows in new toilets, some older toilets you may be able to.

  12. counter clockwise, not so much the toilets but the water running down the sink
