  1. A group owner can make their own rules as long as they stay within Yahoo TOS http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/uto... and Yahoo Group Guidelines http://groups.yahoo.com/local/guidelines... .

If the group owner requires a member's full name and address on their group posts, the member can either comply or leave the group.  If there are members under the age of 18, this could place them in harm's way which would violate both TOS and Guidelines.

I really don't understand why an owner would require or need that information included in member's messages since there would be no way to differentiate between fake and real information.  Some groups require a real name and location (city/state) in member's public profiles.  Again, fake information could be used in this instance.

  2. well, I don't think so however why would any one include that in a post? you're opening yourself up to any lurker in a group being there just to gain that private info

** I've always wondered of those group owners that require such things, do they look you up in the phone book to be sure you're who you write you are?? what if you just took a Joe Blow's name out of the phone book, how would a group owner verify any of that private information? what about on-line stalkers? wouldn't this be the group for them??
