  1. They are DONE!!!!

  2. The Yankees are FINISHED!

  3. personally i dont like them much cause im a boston fan but i mean they r going to have to pull some miracle to get there

  4. If they string toegether a few winning streaks..and make use of playing boston and beat them..

  5. NOT AS LONG AS JASON GIAMBI IS IN PIN STRIPS.

  6. I think it would be perfect if the spankees didn't make the playoffs in their last season in the so called sacred land of spankee stadium.  Sorry, I blame my hatred for spankees on ESPN.  They will never stop talking about how the spankees still have a chance.  They also won't stop talking about how great spankee stadium is.  spankee

  7. DONE FOR THIS YEAR BUT ON THE UP SIDE JASON GIAMBI WILL BE GONE IN 2009.WITH A #5 HITTER THAT CAN HIT MORE THAN .250 MAYBE A-ROD WILL GET SOMETHING TO HIT NOT TO MENTION A 1ST BASEMAN THAT CAN PLAY THE POSITION.24 MILLION SALARY SHOULD COVER THAT AND A STARTING PITCHER.

  8. In 1978 I wrote off the Yankees in August and Boston's monumental collapse made a fool of me. I'll never write off the Yankees again until they are mathematically eliminated. That's what the history and the biggest payroll will get you--they are the last team for a lot of people to write off.

I can understand why people are sick of hearing about the Yankees, but I can't help myself from being fascinated by the greatest rivalry in sports. We are conditioned to expect amazing things to happen, like Bucky Dent's homer and Boston's 2004 comeback, so we cling to hope or fear that they will pull off another epic achievement. So as unlikely as it looks on paper, I have to admit the Yankees have playoff hopes.

  9. As a Yankees fan since birth, I officially declared their season over after tonight's debacle.  With under performing batters, injured pitchers, and the toughest division in baseball to get through, the Yankees...are not making the playoffs this year.

  10. Until mathematically eliminated, there is still some hope

  11. Their season is over, in my opinion, but my opinion might not matter to you, I'm not a Yankee fan.

  12. I think their season is over.

I don't like them Yanks, but i do feel sorry for the fans. The Yankees just got off to a terrible start this year, and haven't been able to really pick it up like they need to.

if somehow they do make the playoffs, they won't go very far at all. there are way better standout teams this year, such as the Rays, Cubs, and Angels (ugh.)

  13. They have/had hopes, but quickly being diminished.

This series against Boston was very crucial. Either they sweep and gain ground or lose, get swept and fall further behind, and out of the race. The later seems to be taking place and the 2008 season is just about over for Yankees with 30 games left and 7 games behind.  No one to blame but themselves along with front office. They lacked steady SP all season, and their lazy offense is way too erratic.

  14. Why keep asking. Gee wiz, until they are out of the wild card race it is still possible. Just possible. I hope at least Mussina gets 20 wins out of this.

  15. I THINK THE YANKEES HAVE OSME CHANCE OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS IF THEY DO GOOD WITH HITTING BUT WILL NO TMAKE IT FAR BCUZ OF PITCHING

  16. No offense to you, Nick, but I really really really wish people would stop asking this question. They have no chance, they are done!!! And I am happy!!! =]

They are 10.5 games behind the Rays. The Rays are going to the play offs baby!

  17. Well, doesn't every fan want their team to make it to the post season? For the Yankees it getting slim after tonight's lost to the Red Sox again they fall behind even more in the wild card. Tampa Bay is one of the best team in baseball after being the wost team in baseball last year. The chances of the Yankees making it to the post season they have to I repeat have to because they have 29 games left so they at least have to win 2 out of 3 games for a series.

Or The Red Sox and the Twins lost every game.
